Katie Price reveals truth behind Chris Hughes text scandal as Olivia Attwood opens up about moment she confronted ex
KATIE Price has finally revealed the truth behind her texting scandal with Love Island star Chris Hughes – branding him a “liar”.
The former glamour model, 46, and Island star Chris, 31, were locked in a bitter feud after Katie said he had sent her “flirty texts” behind Oliva Attwood’s back in 2017.
Katie joined Olivia on the latest episode of her podcast So Right It’s Wrong and said she exposed Chris at the time because she’s a “girls girl” and shouldn’t be a dirty secret.
Olivia recalled: “I was dating Chris off the back of the show and I went on Loose Women.”
Katie then explained: “Chris Hughes was messaging me and he was with you [Olivia], and we were at the NTA Awards and I remember seeing you and because I’m such an honest person and a girls girl, I was like ‘I’m going to have to tell her and it’s true’.
“I was like ‘there’s so much to tell you’, and I was showing you them.
“I said ‘if you don’t want to believe me, don’t, but I’ve got no reason to lie to you at all’.
“I remember we were at some different awards and him and Kem were on stage and I put my hand up and was like ‘show us all the texts then Chris’.”
Olivia said she was left stunned by Chris’ reaction when she tried to confront him.
Documentary maker Olivia said: “At this point he was in the media calling Katie a liar. She heckled him at the ITV Palooza.”
Mum-of-five Katie went on: “I hate people that lie, don’t lie, and don’t be ashamed of me.
“If you’re alright to text me, don’t be ashamed of me, don’t lie.
“That’s one thing that I’ve always done in this industry, don’t lie and the truth always comes out.”
Olivia shared: “You know when you confront someone about something and they put on such a big reaction – his reaction was so hysterical, I was so taken back by the reaction that I was like ‘surely if it was true he couldn’t be getting this upset.
“I always had a question mark on it and as the weeks went on I kind of thought, other things happened, we weren’t meant to be together. It wasn’t like we were going to get married.”
Did Katie Price reveal the texts from Chris Hughes?
It all kicked off after Katie – who admitted on Loose Women that she fancied Chris – denied sending him flirty messages, only for Chris to share the apparently one sided exchange on social media.
Katie hit back and revealed she has 51 screenshots of Chris replying to her “flirty” messages.
Furious Chris then posted a lengthy note to Twitter with: “I done with this s*** now. You’re looking to get back at me, your desperate. Stop sending threatening voice notes to my girlfriend too.”
The Sun exclusively revealed that Katie finally revealed 52 secret texts that Chris Hughes sent to her on Snapchat behind his girlfriend at the time, Olivia’s back.
At her book launch on October 17, 2017, the Loose Women star revealed the messages she claims Chris sent to her, weeks after he denied sending them.
In one message, Chris said Olivia was “fame hungry” and loved publicity, then claimed he was having a “tough time” – and Katie then offered him advice.
Katie revealed Chris had called her a “lovely person”, and apologised profusely for starting the drama with her online.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun’s in 2018 Chris said: “There is no bad blood between me and Katie. She is fine.
“I want to put everything that has happened behind me. I went to a charity football match in Cheltenham last week and I knew she was going to be there.
“Her husband was there too and everyone got on.”
How did Olivia Attwood respond to the revelations?
Olivia – who met and began dating Chris on Love Island – had supported him throughout the saga.
In October 2017 she even attacked Katie in her column, claiming the mum-of-five was lying.
However in February 2018 Olivia finally confirmed that he had sent flirty text messages as she opened up about their split.
She said: “I chose to stand by him at that time. I had known him for two months, how am I to know what he was doing?”
She added: “All I know is that whether he did or didn’t, he didn’t sleep with her. It was just a couple of messages.”
What happened at the ITV Gala?
In November, 2017, Katie Price caused chaos at a glamour ITV bash when she screamed into Chris Hughes’ face and accused him of continuing to send her secret texts.
The Sun Online exclusively revealed how Katie shouted at Chris as he was called on stage at the ITV Gala – as the pair came face-to-face for the first time since their now infamous meeting on Loose Women back in the summer.
An insider at the event told The Sun Online: “Everyone was really excited as Chris and Kem arrived on stage, with their hit single Little Bit Leave It playing in the background.
“But Katie clearly had other ideas about their big moment because as soon Chris started speaking, she shouted ‘text messages’ at him twice.”
