Dual cannabis shop, nail salon opening in Schenectady

Schenectady is getting the first combined cannabis dispensary and nail salon in the country. That's according to founder Cori Rodriguez, who is having a grand opening for Cussin's Cannabis and Nail Salon on August 16.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Schenectady is getting the first combined cannabis dispensary and nail salon in the country. That's according to founder Cori Rodriguez, who is having a grand opening for Cussin's Cannabis and Nail Salon on August 16.

After five years, Rodriguez relocated Cussin's Nail Salon from Jay Street in Schenectady to 2075 Central Avenue. She has now expanded the business to include cannabis offerings.

"This is more than just a place to get your nails done or purchase cannabis," said Rodriguez, “It’s a sanctuary for the mind and spirit. We’ve created an environment where you can treat yourself to a higher form of headspace, blending relaxation with luxury."

The dispensary portion of the business will feature adult-use THC products with flower from New York State. The products also highlight the minority and women- led farms and cultivators who are driving innovation in the cannabis industry.

Cussin's Cannabis and Nail Salon is currently in its soft opening phase, with the official grand opening and ribbon cutting on August 16 at 11 a.m. The event will feature an outdoor gathering, giveaways, music from DJ TruMastr, and a preview of the salon’s services and cannabis offerings.
