The DVLA has had enough of motorists ‘jokes’ and has banned 365 number plates for being too rude.

As a new number plate switch to ’74’ dawns upons us, the DVLA has revealed which ones are too naughty or cringe to be made available.

Banned plates includes ruder ones such as ‘BL74 WJB’, and anti Ulez combinations along the lines of ‘NO74 LEZ’.

As this year’s plates include the ‘4’ in ’74’, officials have examined how this may be used to be the letter ‘A’.

This means you can say goodbye to owning ’74 NAL’ ’74 NUS’ and ‘AN74 USA’.

Others include ’74 RTS’, ‘AB74 STD’ and ‘SH74 TDD’.

Senior members from the DVLA have a bi-annual meeting where to choose which plates they do not want to see on the roads.

They examine potentially offensive meanings that can be used using the latest registration number.

The inevitable plates which slip through the new can still be rescinded, but the ‘vast majority of registration numbers are made available’.
