New listeria cases in NY, NJ linked to Boar’s Head recall

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) – Another person has died in Virginia related to a widespread Boar’s Head recall and listeria outbreak, and four new cases have been reported in New York and New Jersey, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Boar’s Head in late July recalled a slew of products due to the potential presence of Listeria monocytogenes, then expanded the recall to include 7 million pounds of products, a full list of which can be found on Boar’s Head’s website

Since the recall, 43 people have been hospitalized with listeria infections and three have died in New Jersey, Illinois and Virginia, according to the CDC. All 43 people have been hospitalized.

The new cases come as Boar's Head faces two lawsuits, one a class action suit filed in New York, over the massive recall.

"No words can fully express our sympathies and the sincere and deep hurt we feel for the families that have suffered losses and others who endured illness," said representatives of Boar's Head on July 30.
