'The Kamalanomenon is real': Breitbart writer sounds alarm over Harris' growing popularity

A Breitbart analyst had a dire message to deliver to his fellow conservatives on Thursday about the political opponent who Donald Trump has so far been unable to attach an insulting moniker.

"I've got some sobering news for my conservative brothers and sisters," John Carney wrote on X. "The Kamalanomenon is real."

Carney goes on to argue in a lengthy report for Breitbart — the conservative site that rose to prominence under the leadership of jailed Trump ally Steve Bannon — that Trump's economic policy attacks on Harris aren't working.

"Harris has inspired not just confidence in her supporters that she can get elected but also that her election will improve their household finances," Carney writes. "Meanwhile, Trump supporters have lost confidence in their candidate’s prospects and their own financial prospects."

Carney's report comes as the Trump team struggles to craft a compelling message against the Democratic candidate which they only discovered last month he would face in the upcoming presidential election.

Polls show Harris and running mate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) have closed the popularity gap that plagued President Joe Biden's reelection campaign. Tens of thousands this week flocked to rallies to show support for the pair which is striking a "Happy Warrior" tone.

Trump meanwhile is raising concerns among conservative donors and campaign staff that he cannot stay on message and focus his attacks on Harris' policy, specifically when it comes to the economy and immigration.

Instead, Trump has questioned Harris' race and run through a growing list of nicknames that surprised political experts with their inability to hit home.

It was in this context Carney on Thursday described Harris' movement as a "Kamalanomenon," a portmanteau that has seen growing momentum on social media.

"The Kamalanomenon is having a big impact on how people view their economic prospects," wrote Carney. He dubbed it, "A big, hidden partisan shift in economic optimism."
