Jennifer Lopez & Ben Affleck’s Marriage-to-Divorce Pipeline Was Reportedly All About 'Closure'

Not too long ago, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck‘s marriage was a Hollywood story of true love. After splitting for the first time in 2004, the two got back together in 2021 and made us all believe that some people are just meant to be. But, as rumors of a divorce continue to escalate about them, new sources are explaining what really happened between them.

According to one source on Page Six, Lopez and Affleck, who clearly had a strong connection when they were first together, hyped up their relationship for a long time in their heads. So, when they finally got back together, everything was heightened.

“They got caught up in the moment,” the source said. “Jennifer had wanted this wedding — the gowns, the friends, all the trappings and trimmings — for decades.”

Lopez and Affleck, who first eloped in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022, tied the knot for a second time at their Atlanta compound in August 2022.

But, now that the dust has settled on their relationship, it seems the reality of their marriage is coming back to bite them. And they’ve started to make peace with it.

“They’ve turned the page on all the unfinished business of 20-plus years ago. They’ve seen things through to the end — and they know for sure now that they are not built for the long haul,” the insider said. “No further unanswered questions. They’ve seen all they need to see, and it’s over.”

In other words, they’ve finally pursued the relationship they’d been pining over for decades. And while it may not have worked out, at least they saw their fantasy through.

“In the end, it’s gonna be the most elaborate and expensive exercise in closure ever,” the insider added. Ouch!

Speaking of closure, sources recently dished about how Lopez is feeling about Affleck buying his new home, a $20.5 million Pacific Palisades property. According to Us Weekly, his real estate move apparently “caught the singer off guard.” The insider noted that his purchase was “the final nail in the coffin” of their marriage. “Ben moving into a new home was the closure of the relationship,” the source added.

Looks like Affleck and Lopez are getting ready to say goodbye to their chapter together.
