A person has drowned at a CrossFit event after an athlete went missing during the water segment of the event.

Lazar Đukić was last seen about 100metres from the end of the 800metre swim segment of the CrossFit Games in Fort Worth, Texas.

The swim followed a 3.5mile run, and it was only as other athletes exited the water to cross the finish line that organisers realised Lazar had not finished.

CBS News Texas had its helicopter flying over the Marine Creek Reservoir, which saw first responders pull a body out of the water and put it into a bodybag.

It hasn’t yet been confirmed if the body is Lazar.

The event is the first of the Games, with the team event scheduled to begin at 8am local time cancelled while police and search and rescue teams look for Lazar.

All spectators have been asked to leave the grounds while the search continues.

The event was being livestreamed and captured the last moment Lazar was seen before he failed to finish the event.

Lazar is from Serbia and has competed in CrossFit Games for several years.

He’s ranked 88th worldwide in the male category, 33rd in Europe and 3rd in Serbia.
