After previously backtracking his commitment to Sept. 10, the Republican nominee says he's willing to debate his opponent three times on NBC, ABC and Fox

Former President Donald Trump said he would be willing to do three debates against Vice President Kamala Harris in a Mar-a-Lago news conference on Thursday.

“We’ve agreed with Fox on a day of Sept. 4, and we’ve agreed with NBC on Sept. 10 and ABC on Sept. 25,” the GOP nominee told reporters. “I look forward to these debates. I think it’s really important that we have them.”

Harris’ campaign had previously agreed to a Sept. 10 debate with ABC News, which was originally planned to feature President Joe Biden before he dropped out of the November election. Trump’s newly proposed venue for that day is instead with NBC.

Trump began Thursday’s news conference saying, “I think that our country is, right now, in the most dangerous position it’s ever been in from an economic standpoint, from a safety standpoint — both gangs on the street and, frankly, gangs outside of our country, in the form of other countries that are, frankly, very powerful.”

“We have leadership who has no clue how to handle them, or how to handle any other situation,” he continued. “You could end up in a depression of the 1920-variety … we’re very close to that and we’re very close to a World War.”

Trump’s address comes after Harris chose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be her running mate Tuesday. The two spoke at a rally in Pennsylvania that night, introducing the vice presidential candidate to the nation.

Harris compared the resume of veteran and former teacher Walz to that of his Republican counterpart JD Vance, saying it was a “matchup between the varsity team and the JV squad.”

Walz told the lively crowd that he was ready to debate the Ohio senator “that is, if he’s willing to get off the couch and show up,” he teased.

The vice president attended another rally in Detroit, Mi. Wednesday to a crowd of 15,000. During her speech she was interrupted by pro-Palestinian protestors accusing her of funding the ongoing war in Gaza. Harris acknowledged them once but later changed her tone, saying, “You know what, if you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, I’m speaking.”

The question of when the vice president and the former president will debate is still up in the air. Trump told the “Fox & Friends” anchors Wednesday that it is “important for the country” that he and Vice President Harris debate. However, the former president announced Friday to Truth Social that he canceled their previously scheduled Sept. 10 ABC News debate.

Instead, Trump proposed a Sept. 4 debate on Fox News, citing ABC and anchor George Stephanopoulos as “conflicts of interest” for him.

More to come…
