Trump falsely claims 'the presidency was taken away from Joe Biden'

In an apparently unscripted rant on Thursday, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump falsely claimed "the presidency was taken away from Joe Biden."

Trump began a press conference at Mar-a-Lago with unexpected remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign, calling her "nasty."

"He appointed her, asked her to serve as vice president," he recalled. "Well, I don't know if he's happy about that decision right now."

"The presidency was taken away from Joe Biden," he continued. "And I'm no Biden fan, but I'll tell you what, from a constitutional standpoint, from any standpoint you look at, they took the presidency away, and people were saying he lost after the debate."

Trump insisted his claims were true "because I know a lot of people on the other side, believe it or not."

"So I'm not complaining," he insisted. "Just take it away from him like he was a child, and he's a very angry man right now."

In fact, the presidency was not "taken away" from Biden. He stepped aside from the campaign but continues serving his full term.
