Manchester United’s pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt is unlikely to be affected by Bayern Munich killing their interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.

 

Bayer Leverkusen set a hard deadline on Bayern Munich’s interest in Tah and wanted an offer on their table by midnight tonight.

 

Xabi Alonso was feeling irritated by the constant speculation over the defender’s future and wanted it resolved as soon as possible.

 

 

Tah had a personal agreement in place with Bayern Munich and always wanted the move to the Bavarians.

 

Bayern Munich killed the idea of signing the defender amidst internal conflict but according to German magazine Kicker, it will not affect the decision on De Ligt’s future.

 

 

It has been claimed that the Bayern Munich hierarchy have always been treating the two transfer dealings as separate issues.

 

The Dutchman still wants the move to Manchester United but Bayern Munich have so far refused to drop their €50m asking price.

 

 

With Tah not joining Bayern Munich, it remains to be seen whether there will be a rethink on De Ligt amidst widespread support amongst the Bayern Munich fanbase to keep him at the club.
