The Emerson Royal saga has taken another twist

There have been some suggestions over recent hours that there are still details to be ironed out between Milan and Spurs before the deal can be completed.

Calciomercato claimed that an agreement on the bonuses could not be reached when the two clubs spoke on Tuesday, thus potentially leading to the negotiations dragging on for a few more days.

However, Di Marzio has now claimed that Milan are ‘closing in’ on an agreement with Tottenham and are now waiting for the ‘final green light’ to arrive from the Premier League side.

In fact, it is explained that after their latest offer, the Serie A club expect the final ‘okay’ from the Lilywhites to arrive on either Thursday or Friday.

Di Marzio claims Emerson Royal’s move to AC Milan is imminent

They subsequently expect Emerson to arrive in Italy to complete his medical and sign on the dotted line by this weekend ahead of the new Serie A campaign which begins next weekend.

The Brazilian international admitted last month that he had already spoken with Ange Postecoglou about his desire to play regular first-team football.

He told Globo when asked about his future: “I’ve always made it clear. I’m very competitive and it bothers me a lot to be left on the bench. I was upset and I told the coach about it.

“I’ve always been very professional, put the most intensity into training, but this situation doesn’t work for me. I don’t know what my future will be. I am not a player who sits on the bench.

“I want to play, and if it’s not here, I understand that, but I want to go somewhere I can play. I want to play for the Brazil team and that is unlikely if I don’t play at club level, so I have to look for new places.”

Last season, he had to settle for limited minutes with Postecoglou preferring Pedro Porro as his first-choice right-back.

Spurs Web Opinion

Most Spurs fans and AC Milan fans would likely be sick of this transfer saga by now as we have constantly heard that this deal is on the verge of happening for at least the last couple of months.

I would not bet against the negotiations dragging on until the final week of the window and would be surprised if the deal gets over the line prior to the weekend.
