Anthony Scaramucci believes there's a 'civil war' raging inside Trump's campaign

Former Donald Trump communications director Anthony Scaramucci believes a "civil war" is happening inside the ex-president's 2024 campaign.

Speaking to MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace on Thursday after Donald Trump's press conference, Scaramucci said the campaign was caught flat-footed in a battle that isn't about age.

Wallace cited reporting from Tim Alberta last month that having Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee was their worst nightmare.

"The entire architecture of the Trump campaign [had been] about the ageism and the slurs that they planned to lob against Joe Biden that there wasn't a plan B," said Wallace.

She asked about top Trump advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita and the whereabouts of their "backup plan." Scaramucci compared it to Project 2025 and the Heritage Foundation and Trump's sudden decision to say he didn't know them.

"That's one of his moves: he put all of his teammates in there. He's flying around privately with the leader of the Heritage Foundation. It doesn't poll well, and then he says what he always says, 'I don't even know these people. Never met these people,'" said the short-lived White House communications chief.

"And so there's a civil war going on inside the campaign. Those people are after Susie and Chris. Susie and Chris are looking and saying, 'We could have an expiration date on our jobs now.' ... So, things are in disarray. He is calling around to his old campaign teams, people from '16 and '20 and he's socializing ideas with them and that's why he's on time-delay," said Scaramucci.

He also pointed out that he can always tell when Trump isn't in a good place because he starts talking about his crowd sizes at rallies.

"If he starts saying his crowds are bigger than Taylor Swift then you know we're in real psychotic territory," he warned.
