A trainee sub-inspector, Amit Mishra, was arrested for extorting Rs 7,000 from cab driver Rupesh Tomar near Gaur City on Aug 2. Mishra, accompanied by two others, stopped Tomar’s car, abused him, and took most of his earnings. Despite several attempts to file a complaint with local police, no action was taken until Tomar approached the police chief. A case has been registered against Mishra and his accomplices. Shakti Mohan Avasthy replaced Suniti as DCP (central Noida). Mishra faces charges including robbery and criminal conspiracy.
