UCLan Cyprus and Home for Cooperation sign MoU

UCLan Cyprus and the Home for Cooperation (H4C) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Nicosia. This strategic partnership aims to foster a creative and scientific alliance in education, research and applied experience. The main objective of this partnership is to share advanced expertise with members of both organisations. This aims to enhance their strategic position in promoting peace between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities in Cyprus, through the transformative power of arts and culture.

Representing UCLan Cyprus, the MoU was signed by Rector of UCLan Cyprus, Prof. Irene Polycarpou, in the presence of Head of the School of Sciences, Prof. Nearchos Paspallis and Course Leader of the MSc Forensic Psychology programme, Dr Lilia Psalta. On behalf of the Home for Cooperation, the agreement was signed by Board Member, Maria Zeniou, and Executive Manager, Andri Christofides.

“We look forward to strengthening our existing collaboration and establishing further joint actions and initiatives,” said UCLan Cyprus Rector, Prof. Polycarpou, during the event. For his part, Professor Paspallis highlighted the mutual trust and commitment underpinning this developing partnership.

Home for Cooperation’s Christofides also hailed the agreement. “We believe in this collaboration and aim to build strong ties with the University in order to develop new initiatives in research and innovation, as well as support both communities,” she said. H4C Board Member Zeniou highlighted the significance of the MoU, expressing her hope it will mark the beginning of a long-term and fruitful partnership.

UCLan Cyprus’ Dr Psalta, emphasised the importance of research across various fields such as Psychology, Technology, Management, and Law, and proposed specialised interventions and support for both communities. She also noted that initiatives like student internships, volunteering and other joint activities that will enhance student experience with the Home for Cooperation. “Our collaboration represents a bridge of peace and mutual understanding, rooted in knowledge and innovation. We are excited about the future and the opportunities that lie ahead,” she said.
