Thirteen inflatables taken off the market

A total of 13 inflatables were taken off the market at a risk of causing drowning, the consumer service reported on Friday.

The service published a detailed list of the beach inflatables deemed dangerous after conducting a study in June. The study involved inspections at 132 retail outlets nationwide, where officials worked to identify and withdraw hazardous inflatables and other marine/water equipment. Additionally, economic operators were informed about the risks.

Of the products examined, 13 inflatables and other marine/water equipment were found to pose significant risks, leading to their immediate withdrawal from the market. In eight other cases, stores were advised to take corrective measures to address potential dangers.

The Consumer Protection Service will continue to monitor retail outlets selling inflatables and other marine/water equipment as part of its regular inspections. Consumers will be kept informed about any products that present risks and are subsequently withdrawn from the market.

A full list of the dangerous inflatables is available on the Consumer Protection Service’s website. Most of the 13 items were removed from the market due to the risk of drowning if used by children who do not meet the appropriate age and weight requirements.
