One in custody after business catches fire in NW Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - One person has been taken into custody after a small business fire Friday morning.

According to the Oklahoma City Fire Department, crews first responded to a fire near Olie Ave. and NW 23rd St. around 4:30 a.m. They said there was a small fire on the porch of a vacant home that they were able to put out quickly.

Shortly after, officials say someone passing by told firefighters about a fence and a house near NW 23rd St. and Shartel Ave. that was possibly on fire. Crews responded to what appeared to be a business and knocked the fire down.

Fire officials say they are trying to get ahold of an owner as investigators look into the incident further. One person was also taken in custody regarding the incident.

"We don't know at this time what the intention was," said Major Ted Lausser with OKCFD. "OCPD is also assisting and they may have a suspect in custody at this time."

Both structures were empty and no injuries have been reported.
