Hidden Sky setting instantly improves TV guide – all it takes is three clicks on your remote

SKY has added a new setting to boxes that should help make text appear clearer on your screen.

Viewers have long-requested a feature to increase the size of words on their TV.

It’s designed for visually impaired people but anyone can use it.

Screen Magnifier enlarges the text on the TV Guide grid only.

Once switched on, it should make finding your favourite shows and channels easier.

But the feature is only available on Sky Q boxes.

“The launch of the Sky Q Screen Magnifier means we now offer customers a wider range of accessibility features, making it easier for individuals to use the Sky Q TV guide who may have difficulty with smaller text,” Sky said.

The Screen Magnifier can be found by going to Settings > Accessibility > Screen magnifier.

There are other existing accessibility settings you may have missed too.

A high contrast option is available on Sky Q.

Just go to Settings > Accessibility > High contrast and switch it on.

Sky also gives eligible customers free accessibility remotes.

These include:

  • Raised contour buttons with additional tactile points
  • Larger and bolder button graphics
  • High visibility buttons

To get hold of one you’ll need to ring Sky.

The contact details can be found on this page.
