Addison Rae Boldly Asks: ‘Is Diet Pepsi Okay?’
Since she entered the scene, Addison Rae has consistently been a savvy pop girl, knowing exactly the right buttons to press to get gay men in clubs across the land to say, “Honestly, she did slay.” She recorded a famously leaked Lady Gaga demo on her debut EP, she hangs out with Charli XCX, and now she’s flipped Coke summer on its head. Yes, that’s right — between Charli’s “365” and Marcus Jordan, Ms. Rae is here to ask, “Is Pepsi okay?” Why yes! “Diet Pepsi,” her major label debut for Columbia Records, is picking up where Lana left off when she wrote, “My pussy tastes like Pepsi cola.” Rae, for her part, is more focused on other parts of the anatomy, singing, “My ass looks good in these ripped blue jeans / My cheeks are red like cherries in the spring.” Please note — we are not sure why Rae’s cheeks are red, but, if it persists, we would advise her to go to a dermatologist to check if it is rosacea of the ass.
In the music video, Rae is giving full Americana princess. She’s draped in an American flag, she’s making crazy eyes at an ice-cream sundae, she’s playing peekaboo with the flag, and she’s distracting a driver. Directed and DP’d by Sean Price Williams, the video is filmed like a mood piece, but Rae camps it up all over the place, making googly-eyes at the camera and refusing to relax. Our verdict: Funny and good! This moment in Addison Rae is both in conversation with previous pop stars (Lana, Charli, etc.) and feels totally TikTok-friendly. Honestly, she did slay.
