Mayfield man accused of stealing pills from Walgreens

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Mayfield man was arrested and is accused of forcefully entering a closed Walgreens by throwing a paver block through a window and stealing narcotic prescription pills. Chan Sonderfan, 38, faces several charges.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says Sonderfan was found inside the building on Thursday and was arrested without incident.

Charges:

• Third-degree burglary
• Third-degree criminal mischief
• Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
• Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
• Possession of burglar's tools
• Petit larceny

Sonderfan was arraigned in Amsterdam Town Court and is scheduled to return at a later date. Deputies say he is a suspect in two other Fulton County commercial burglaries and was turned over to the Gloversville Police Department after being released on his own recognizance.
