New place to find government benefits website coming this Fall

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- There’ll be a new place to find the latest information on federal government benefits starting in September.

Benefits.gov will be shutting down after more than 20 years, making way for the new portal USA.gov. Like its predecessor, the website will allow you to search for food assistance, housing help, health insurance and more. Associated websites like GovLoans.gov and SSABEST.Benefits.gov will also be integrated into the new webpage.

USAGov aims to be a comprehensive portal that makes it easier for people to find and understand the government services and information they need, as described on the website. Although the site has been a place for government agencies since 1999, this transition reflects the Federal Government dedication to providing government resources for the public.

The Benefits.gov website was founded in 2002 and has since served over 220 million people while increasing access to more than 1,100 government benefits.
