Caleb Williams’ Actual Favorite Quarterback Is A Stunner

Given the comparisons and mentions in the past, you’d think Caleb Williams’ favorite quarterback growing up was Aaron Rodgers. It would be easy to understand. Rodgers was reaching his peak in 2010 and 2011, right when Williams would’ve been 9 or 10 years old. It stayed that way for a time, but things began to change as he grew older and more familiar with the quarterback position. While he still had great admiration for Rodgers, another name became the one whom Williams wished to emulate.

Matthew Stafford.

Williams explained to Kay Adams on Up & Adams that the two-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion is by far the most underappreciated superstar in the game.

Caleb Williams shares a lot in common with Stafford.

The two were born in bigger cities. Both were high school phenoms, winning their versions of state championships. Each made their name at blue-blooded programs, Stafford at Georgia and Williams at USC. Last but not least, both went #1 overall in the draft to franchises with rough histories at quarterback. Detroit had only one Pro Bowler since the 1950s. Chicago has never even had a 4,000-yard passer. Stafford went on to set every franchise record for the Lions, leading them to the playoffs three times despite organizational mismanagement. He then got traded to the Rams, where he promptly won a championship.

No doubt Caleb Williams hopes to succeed where Stafford failed, bringing Chicago the Lombardi trophy that has eluded it for 40 years. If he plays like how the division rival has for 15 years, the Bears are in great shape.
