Deadly jet ski collision on Lacamas Lake prompts investigation

A woman is dead and a child was injured after two jet skis collided in Lacamas Lake, with the woman's death being the latest in a series of water-related fatal incidents in the region.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A Vancouver woman is dead after two jet skis collided in the middle of Lacamas Lake late Thursday evening, according to Camas police.

Authorities say the woman, 48-year-old Angela Narciso, had been riding the jet ski with a 10-year-old when they crashed into another jet ski around 7:11 p.m. The woman and child had been wearing personal flotation devices at the time of the crash.

A nearby boater pulled them out of the water and tried to save the woman’s life, officials say. Emergency responders took her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the child and the other rider – known to the pair – were left uninjured.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of this deadly outcome from what should have been a fun summer day on our beautiful lake,” Police Chief Tina Jones said in a statement released Friday. “Condolences to the family and friends impacted by this loss. We have heard of several water-related fatal incidents this summer in the region, and it is a sober reminder for everyone to take precautions. Please operate vessels safely, wear personal flotation devices, take a boater safety class, have all the required safety equipment, be aware of others in the water, and get up to date on CPR.”

An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Officials encourage any witnesses to contact the Camas Police Department.
