LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- It's been two weeks since Lafayette police Sr. Cpl. Segus Jolivette was killed in the line of duty. The community is still rallying around his family.

Over the weekend, Pizza Artista in Lafayette and Broussard, as well as Pizza Amore in Carencro, will hold fundraisers. These businesses, which include restaurants and car washes, want to help the Jolivette family.

Aaron McClaskey is a supervisor at Pizza Artista in Lafayette.

"Anyone who wants to come in and let us know they're coming in for Officer Jolivette's family, we'll allocate 20% of that order to the family," McClaskey said.

Jolivette dedicated his life to protecting Lafayette -- and it's clear he made an impact.

"We have friends who actually knew Officer Jolivette personally," McClaskey said. "Even some of the team members who work here knew him personally. So it's one of those unfortunate things that does hit close to home, and when that happens, we should come together. I've been seeing a lot of people coming together."

"It's been beautiful, bittersweet, but this is a great opportunity," McClaskey said. "It won't bring him back, but hopefully it can at least help the family in some way at this time."

Dozens of businesses across Lafayette are joining in by starting fundraisers for the Jolivette family. McCluskey said it shows the heart of Acadiana.

"There's hope, and it's great to see," McClaskey said. "I hope Lafayette never loses that sense of community because that's what makes it special."
