'Avatar 3' Gets Official Title, James Cameron Teases 'High Emotional Stakes'
The upcoming third Avatar movie just got a big update!
The official title for the upcoming new installment in the franchise was unveiled at Disney’s D23 Fan Expo on Friday night (August 9) at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
Director James Cameron took the stage, and also brought out stars Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington!

“I came 7,000 miles from New Zealand for this,” James told the crowd, via Deadline.
He added that we’ll see “new cultures and settings… you’ll see more of Pandora the planet than you ever see saw before. The new film isn’t what you expect, but it’s definitely what you want.”
“It’s an insane adventure and a feast for the eyes, but it’s also got very high emotional stakes, more than ever before,” James said, via Variety. “We’re going into really challenging territory for all the characters you know and love.”
He also teased new characters that you’ll love, or hate.
Oona Chaplin is joining the cast as the leader of the Ash People, Varang. David Thewlis and Michelle Yeoh also join!
If you recall, Avatar 2 and 3 will filmed back-to-back.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to hit theaters December 19, 2025.
