A’s vs. Blue Jays game thread

Looking for a win on the first part of the road trip

The Athletics hit the road for an East Coast trip this weekend, stopping by Toronto first to take on the Blue Jays in the first of three contests.

Toronto entered the season with high expectations but instead find themselves at the bottom of the AL East standings. A sweep of the Blue Jays and the A’s would get dang near close to matching their record.

Righty Mitch Spence gets the ball for tonight’s start, set to make his 26th appearance of the season. Spence has had the usual rookie struggles that often come with the inexperience but he’a coming off of a solid stretch of starts, and he’ll be looking to keep that going against a Blue Jays offense that has some serious star power.

Here’s how Oakland will stack the lineup today:

The Oakland bats will be going against right-hander José Berríos, who is having a solid season for Toronto in his age-30 campaign. He’s not putting up the types of numbers that he did early on in his career but he’s still got it and can shut down any offense in the league if he’s got his full arsenal working on any given day.

And the Toronto lineup that the’ll be going with tonight:

Let’s go A’s! A 2-game winning streak sounds like a nice way to start the road trip.
