BBC announce huge Team GB homecoming celebration after Paris 2024 Olympics with extravaganza shown live on TV

THE BBC have announced a huge homecoming celebration for Britain’s Olympics heroes.

Yesterday saw more medals for Team GB as Toby Roberts picked up Team GB’s fourteenth gold of the games in sport climbing.

Elsewhere there was a silver for Katarina Johnson-Thompson as she narrowly missed out on gold to Belgium‘s Nafi Thiam and GB also won silver in the 4x100m relay.

The BBC is planning a massive homecoming celebration for Britain’s athletes which will be broadcast live on BBC One and iPlayer.

The celebration will take place at Manchester’s AO arena on Saturday August 17 and will be broadcast on the BBC the next day on Sunday August 18.

The homecoming, which is being set up in collaboration with the National Lottery will see performances from a range of top musicians and DJs.

These include: Clean Bandit, Jess Glynne, Pete Tong, Myles Smith, Nina Nesbitt, James, Krept & Konan and Rag’n’Bone Man.

Emma Willis and Vernon Kay will host the event, which will see the heroes of the games interviewed between music acts.

TV presenter and host Vernon Kay says: “I have seen first-hand how amazingly dedicated and talented our athletes are.

“This Homecoming event will be a moment to recognise the achievements of these incredible athletes. I can’t wait to celebrate together!”

And fellow presenter Emma Willis said: “There’s a fantastic buzz during the Olympics, and Team GB’s Homecoming event will be the perfect way to celebrate and welcome home our phenomenal athletes.

“I’m super excited to be asked to host, along with Vernon. I have no doubt it’ll be a very fun and special evening.”

After a successful games for Team GB, Britain are currently sat fifth in the medal table.

Hosts France, who are sixth, appear to be Brtain’s biggest rival in terms of medals – with the two only being separated currently by Team GB’s one additional bronze medal.
