At least 100 Palestinians, including children, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a school in Gaza.

International media reported that an Israeli attack on a school in the Al-Raj area of Gaza resulted in the deaths of at least 100 Palestinians, with hundreds more injured.

According to foreign media, most of the victims were children and elderly individuals who lost their lives due to the Israeli assault.

The Israeli attack on the school in the Al-Raj area occurred precisely during morning prayers when the school, housing 4,000 displaced people, was targeted by Israeli aircraft.

Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday, August 9, called for an end to the war in the Gaza Strip, stating that France fully supports mediation efforts in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Macron wrote on his social media platform X, “This [end to the war in Gaza] should be clear to everyone.”

The French President also emphasized, “An end to hostilities is crucial for the people of Gaza, the hostages, and for the stability of the region, which is currently at risk.”

In a parallel development, following diplomatic efforts, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office issued a statement on Friday announcing that Israel has agreed to resume ceasefire negotiations in Gaza next week in response to requests from U.S., Egyptian, and Qatari mediators.

Macron also stated that the American, Egyptian, and Qatari mediators have France’s full support.

Mediators from the United States, Qatar, and Egypt have been striving to establish a second ceasefire in Gaza following the war that erupted on October 7 last year after Hamas launched attacks on southern Israel.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza continues to take a devastating toll on civilians, particularly children and the elderly. The international community is actively seeking a resolution, with mediation efforts gaining momentum. However, the situation remains tense, and the hope for a lasting ceasefire is yet to be realized.
