Ange Postecoglou has hinted that Oliver Skipp and Manor Solomon will make the final decisions over whether they want to stay at Tottenham and compete for a place in the side.

Oliver Skipp is linked with a Spurs exit

Skipp struggled to get starts under his belt last season and the competition for places might be even harder this campaign following the arrival of two exciting young players Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray.

It was reported by The Telegraph, earlier this week that the Tottenham academy graduate has asked to leave Tottenham in search of regular game time and that he is expected to be granted that wish.

The report added that all three newly promoted clubs, Leicester City, Southampton and Ipswich Town, were keen on securing the 23-year-old’s services.

Manor Solomon could also leave Tottenham

Meanwhile, reports have also suggested that Tottenham are willing to loan out Manor Solomon as they wish to bring another winger through the door before the transfer window shuts (Football Insider).

Postecoglou has now declared that he will respect the decisions of the players who feel they need to move on in order to get their careers back on track.

When asked about the speculation over the futures of Solomon and Skipp, the Spurs head coach told Football.London: “A lot of those things are kind of in the player’s hands, where they see themselves and what they want from their careers. I have always had the same sort of thought process on those things.

“When they are with us, they are with us. That doesn’t mean things won’t change and you have to embrace and accept that as a manager that things change, while they are here, they are here.

“A lot of things dictate themselves and I do think that depending on the individual players, they’ve got a career that they have to manage themselves. Whether they think that this is the right place to keep progressing. I’ve always respected that a lot of those decisions also come down to them.”

This seems like a major hint from Ange that Skipp has asked to leave and will be allowed to do so. I would be surprised if Solomon decides to leave.

The winger might want to stay and fight for his place even if he feels the chances of getting stars are unlikely at the start of the campaign.
