Guardiola was seemingly left furious when City shot-stopper Ederson, who has been linked with an exit from the club this summer, chose to boot the ball out of play on the stroke of half-time.

The Man City boss threw his water bottle to the ground at the sound ogf the whistle and turned to goalkeeping coach Xabi Mancisido to rant about the wasteful goal kick from Ederson.

Before he then stormed down the Wembley tunnel ready to give his side a stern talking to during the half-time break.

Guardiola is known for his possession-based football with his teams famously playing out from the back when the goalkeeper has the ball.

The Spaniard was already trying to get his message across to his players earlier in the game, calling over all his outfielders for a mid-game tactical chat while United’s Casemiro was receiving treatment for an injury.

His intense tactics have helped City become the dominant force in English football since his arrival at the Etihad in 2016, while he has also had a wider influence on the English game as a whole.

As much as many fans love his impact on the Premier League, there’s one thing many have noticed at Wembley that they are not pleased with.

Guardiola turned up to the ‘Home of Football’ for today’s Community Shield wearing just tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt.

The casual outfit sent some supporters into a frenzy, with many traditional fans thinking managers should wear a suit when they take charge of their side at Wembley.

On social media, one wrote: “Pep Guardiola in a t-shirt. Dresses up more for breakfast.”

While another added: “Guardiola in a t-shirt at Wembley. This man ain’t serious”.

A third fumed: “Pep Guardiola is ridiculous with this his T-shirt for Community Shield. Stop being disrespectful just dress properly Pep. It’s just ridiculous!”

And a fourth joked: “Must be laundry day for Pep!”

City looked on top in the first half, despite Guardiola’s angry reaction at the break.

The Premier League champions are well aware of how difficult United can be to beat, having lost to the Red Devils in the FA Cup final just three months ago.

And a second half strike from Alejandro Garnacho put United 1-0 up, ringing alarm bells for more Wembley heartache for the Cityzens.

Fortunately an 89th minute equaliser from Bernardo Silva forced a penalty shootout under the arch.

And it was Guardiola’s men who held their nerve the best, winning the shootout 7-6 and lifting the Community Shield to start off the new campaign.
