The final ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Vinesh Phogat’s silver medal appeal has been postponed to August 11 at 9:30 PM IST. Phogat was disqualified just hours before her final bout in the women’s freestyle 50kg for missing the weight limit by 100g and was stripped of the silver medal. The CAS will decide whether to reinstate her silver medal by the end of the day on August 11. Earlier, Reetika Hooda’s campaign ended after she lost to top seed Aiperi Medet Kyzy in the women’s 76kg quarterfinals, with Aiperi’s subsequent loss to Kennedy Blades in the semifinals eliminating Hooda’s chance for a bronze medal.
