Love Island’s Shaughna Phillips reveals shocking pic of huge swollen lips after getting filler but insists ‘it’s normal’

LOVE Island star Shaughna Phillips has shocked her followers by revealing her very swollen lips.

The 30-year-old refused to come online for a few days after having filler put in and being left with a very painful pout.

But today, after the swelling subsided, Shaughna finally gave fans a look at the lips – insisting it was normal despite their shock appearance.

She said: “It’s only right I show you how bad they were.

“Full discolosure, this wasn’t a surprise, this wasn’t how I had them done or anything like that.

“This was literally the Russian method which makes you swell, but I swelled.”

Shaughna then posted a snap of them and said: “Guys I was really going through it.”

Russian lips are a style favoured by Katie Price and build height and volume to the pout by injecting the filler vertically.

According to one clinic, it is very common to experience swelling, bruising and discomfort in the days after.

Mum-of-one Shaughna rose to fame during the winter series of Love Island in 2020.

In 2022 the star had all her lip filled dissolved, because she wanted to change the appearance of her lips.

She said at the time: “I was so hesitant about having my lips dissolved because I honestly don’t remember what I even look like without them!

“But there’s more to life than what size your bloody lips are…I’ll be back in 2 weeks time and will start from scratch, this time I’ll be doing a little here and there so I can really get the shape, I cannot wait.”

Shaughna has also had a boob job and liposuction for medical reasons.

After going on Love Island, she learnt that she suffers from lipoedema which, according to the NHS, is “an abnormal build-up of fat in your legs and sometimes arms which can be painful and affect daily life”.

What are the risks of lip fillers?

THE RISKS of dermal fillers depend on whether the procedure was done correctly and the type of filler used.

The NHS recommends you speak to your practitioner about the risks beforehand.

Serious problems are rare but can include:

  • Infection
  • A lumpy appearance under the skin, which might need to be treated with surgery or medicine
  • The filler moving away from the intended treatment area, which may need to be removed using surgery
  • Scarring
  • Blocked blood vessels in the face, which can cause tissue death and permanent blindness

You should see your GP if you have any complications that need medical attention and speak to your practitioner if you’re not happy with the results or experience lumpiness.

Speaking about having work done, she previously told us: “To be fair, all the liposuction that I’ve had has all been medically needed, but maybe £25,000

“I had the liposuction on my thighs and on my calves, and I had my boobs done years ago. It is a lot of money, but this was just after Love Island so I think I almost felt like I had to have it done.

“I felt everyone was looking at me, but if I had have known how painful it was, I may not have done it.”
