Mariners Moose Tracks, 8/10/24: Mitch Haniger, Camilo Doval, and Players’ Weekend
A Mitch appreciation post.
Good morning everyone and welcome to the weekend! Check out what’s going on around baseball:
In Mariners news...
- It is absolutely wild that they went 20 years without coming to Seattle. Even if they were not good for more than half of that, they’ve been worthy of having the spotlight on them in seasons past!

Around the league...
- Somehow I missed that they’re bringing Players’ Weekend back next weekend. But instead of unique jerseys, they’re just adding numbers to their hats.
- Major League Baseball continues to schedule games at unique venues, with a contest between the Reds and Braves planned at the Bristol Motor Speedway next September.
- In a surprise move, the Giants have optioned former All-Star closer Camilo Doval to Triple-A in an effort to help him turn around a rough season.
- With Los Angeles hosting the 2028 Summer Olympics, Jake Mintz at Yahoo! Sports wonders if baseball will be an event at the Games, and what it might look like.
Anders’ picks...
- We really are doing Stranger Things in Star Wars, huh?
The first trailer for ‘STAR WARS: SKELETON CREW’ has been released.
