Teen arrested for driving at 123kph with passenger in boot

A 19-year-old male was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning after police found him driving at 123 kilometres per hour on a stretch of road where the speed limit is 50kph.

The teenager is a resident of Nicosia but was driving at breakneck speed between Protaras and Cape Greco when police clocked his speed.

Police also found that he was not wearing a seatbelt, and that he had six people inside his five-seat vehicle – one person in each seat and one in the boot.

He was arrested and charged in writing to be summoned to court at a later date.

The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
