Retailer Roman is selling the tiered Bardot belted dress, which has been proven to brighten up people’s day.

So much so, shoppers have been stopped in the street and were complimented on the “beautiful” dress.

Even better, the dress – which is available in sizes 10 to 20 – has been reduced from £65 to £48.

Describing the dress, the Roman website states: “This floral print dress falls to a modest maxi length in a flattering fit and flare style and is finished with a fun frill trim.”

The dress is cut from a woven fabric, and has a stretchy bardot neckline with an elasticated waist to make it easy to pull-on.

They have finished it off with a self-tie fabric belt which helps to create shape.

It can be dressed up with heels, which makes it perfect for a summer wedding or day at the races.

However, for those wanting to wear it to a more relaxed occasion, the dress can also be styled with trainers or sandals.

Racing to the comments section on the Roman website, shoppers have revealed their opinions on the “five star” dress.

One wrote: “Love this dress! Just wore it to an Andrea Bocelli concert at BST Hyde Park in London and people stopped to compliment me on it.

‘Husband loves it’

“My partner says he loves me too. Very floaty and light; very comfortable to wear.

“Only thing I would say is it’s quite long and flowing which I like, but will possibly be too long for some.

“I am 5ft 6 inches tall and it almost reaches the floor on me.

“Covers lumps and bumps well and great if you have thick ankles and want to cover them up a bit too!

“I will wear this again when the weather improves. It washes well at a low temperature and fits true to size.

“I’ll also take it on a cruise with me in October and hope to get lots more wear out of it.”

Another added: “Love it. Gorgeous material, great, summery colour. Easy and flattering to wear. Can easily pull shoulder ruff down to show off shoulders. Good value too”

Whilst a third said: “Gorgeous colour I sent for 12 but had to return for a size 14. Cannot wait to wear it on my holiday to Mexico.”

How to look chic on a budget

Fashion stylist Gemma Rose Breger, and beauty journalist Samantha Silver revealed how you can make your outfits elevated without spending hundreds of pounds.

  1. Don’t ever spend on designer denim: River Island ”always has such a great selection of fashion-forward jeans that follow the current trends”. The high street retailer offers a great range of sizes to fit UK 6 – UK 18, and three leg lengths – and prices start from an affordable £25.
  2. There are no rules for jewels: ”Pick up something at a car boot sale, or charity shop, scroll on Vinted & eBay, snap up something from the clothing section in your local supermarket when doing the food shop or check out high street clothing stores.”
  3. Don’t forget the pre-loved sites: With a rising number of second-hand sites, such as Vinted and Depop, there’s no excuse for not buying – or selling – pre-loved garments. Gemma, for instance, has managed to get her hands on chic Chanel sunnies for a mere £17.
