Report: Jose Mourinho wants Tottenham midfielder to join him in Turkey

It seems a lifetime ago that Jose Mourinho was in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, but it appears the Portuguese coach has not forgotten one Spurs player, and is said to be keen to add them to his Fenerbahce squad this summer.

Giovani Lo Celso has plenty of options

The future of Giovani Lo Celso is up in the air right now, to say the least. Having been retained by Ange Postecoglou last season, the Argentine midfielder didn’t really have the desired impact due to injuries.

Now, it would appear he will be allowed to leave Tottenham this summer. Lo Celso was not involved in the club’s pre-season game against Bayern Munich last weekend, since he has been given permission to find a new club (Fabrizio Romano).

While a number of clubs have been linked with the playmaker, there is a chance he could be reunited with Mourinho over in Turkey.

That’s according to a report from Sporx, which claims Fenerbahce have been offered Lo Celso by the player’s agent, and the Turkish club are interested in the 28-year-old.

In particular, it is mentioned that Mourinho himself has given the green light for the signing, as he is eager to team up with Lo Celso again. Fenerbahce are now working on the deal with Spurs.

Turkey, Spain, England, or America?

Lo Celso could well be spoilt for choice when it comes to picking a new club before the end of the transfer window.

In the last week, MLS side Charlotte FC are thought to have made an approach for the midfielder (Daily Mail).

Meanwhile, Aston Villa boss, Unai Emery, is also open to reuniting with Lo Celso, and Spanish side Real Betis are believed to be very keen to bring the player back to his former club (TyC Sports).

Spurs Web Opinion

No offence to the Turkish league, but I think Lo Celso is better than that. To be honest, I would be very surprised if he doesn’t end up back in Spain, since the league really seems to suit his style of play.
