Gov. Murphy talks issues with NJ Transit and Amtrak

NEW JERSEY (PIX11) -- While many Democrats in the tri-state area have announced their support for Vice President Kamala Harris, one local official had his name floated as a potential running mate prior to the selection of Tim Walz.

Gov. Phil Murphy sat down with PIX on Politics host Dan Mannarino to talk about the presidential election and share his thoughts on the Harris-Walz campaign.

"I love the job that I have but I am flattered my name was out there in discussions. The ticket is on fire, and the vice president has been pitch-perfect. She had a rich group of potential vice president candidates to choose from and Tim Walz is a home run. They are the right team to lead us in the next four years," said Murphy.

Murphy also discussed why fares are being waived for the NJ Transit next week.

"We acknowledge that this has been painful. A lot of it is Amtrak-related," Murphy said. "We have a good relationship with them, which is great, and have a lot of regard for them, but it is a fact that Amtrak needs to get their infrastructure up to date to the 21st century."
