Town of Basile secures $250,000 Louisiana Community Development Block Grant to remove blighted structures

BASILE, La. (KLFY) -- Governor Jeff Landry has approved a $250,000 grant for the town of Basile to improve the area by removing blighted structures.

The funding was awarded through the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant program. The city will use the grant to remove blighted structures throughout the town. The goal is to restore Basile and make better living conditions for the residents.

The application for the grant was processed by La Louisianne Consulting who sees this as a "significant investment in the future of Basile."

Basile Mayor Mark Denette said he has great appreciation for the support of the people involved in the process.

"This grant is a vital step forward for our community," Denette said. "The removal of blighted structures will help to clean up our town and improve the quality of life for our residents. I want to extend my thanks to the Office of Community Development and La Louisianne Consulting for their dedicated assistance throughout this process."

Denette also thanked the Town Hall staff and the Town Council, whose hard work and commitment played a crucial role in securing this funding.
