Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to release behind-the-scenes film about Man Utd takeover… days after laying off 250 people

SIR JIM RATCLIFFE is considering releasing a behind-the-scenes documentary on his huge Manchester United buy-in.

That’s despite Ratcliffe‘s Ineos regime currently laying off 250 people – a quarter of United’s staff – just months after confirming their investment.

Britain’s richest man took over 27.7% of the club in February, with a new £2billion stadium spearheading his plans for a huge revamp.

And although most Red Devils‘ fans welcomed his arrival, sharing the inside track on the long drawn-out saga might reveal awkward home truths.

After turning up at a meeting, Ratcliffe was reportedly shocked by the ageing Old Trafford’s lack of “wow factor” for a club of such global stature.

And any insight into the loss of so many jobs could also make uncomfortable viewing.

It’s thought consultancy firm Interpath Advisory recommended the cuts – amid claims the club structure had become too bloated.

United want to become “best in class” for efficiency but that might not be enough to appease some of the staff affected.

Ratcliffe’s team have also rebuilt manager Erik ten Hag‘s backroom staff, with a view to better long-term recruitment of players.

But it’s the proposal for a new stadium on land adjacent to the Theatre of Dreams that could define the billionaire’s early years at Old Trafford.

It’s understood he’s hoping the venue will be ready by 2030 – with the current ground scaled down to a 30,000 capacity.

Women’s and academy matches would then take part at the old stadium.

But in the short term, the millions raised from reducing staffing levels is tipped to be handed to Ten Hag for transfers.

And if the Dutchman has a successful season it will be another reason fans hope Ratcliffe replaces the Glazers as majority shareholders.
