Eliot Wolf Hopes This Patriots Lineman ‘Ascends’ To Critical Role

The Patriots offensive line will continue to be the story in New England until the unit thoroughly takes a step forward.

Jerod Mayo certainly expects more of his linemen while executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf believes there's value and productivity in the group. One player in that group remains under the microscope in Vederian Lowe.

The 2022 sixth-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings joined the Patriots in a trade last season. He's rotated throughout training camp for New England this season, doing so without a string of positive improvements.

He had another tough outing against the Philadelphia Eagles in New England's most recent preseason game. Despite that, Wolf still believes Lowe can reach a competitive level.

"Vederian has done a really nice job, " Wolf told reporters at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, per team-provided video. "He's steadily improved. We said it last year, if he could just learn to -- he has really good length to get his hands out, then he would have a chance to ascend to that starter level. He's really started to do that this year, and it's been impressive to watch him progress and we're excited to continue working with him."

Lowe is one of several offensive linemen that must make progress if the Patriots have any chance to protect their quarterbacks this season.
