LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- The Lafayette Police Department responded to a shooting tonight where one person has been shot, according to authorities.

The police reported to the scene of a shooting tonight around 6:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Lena Street. Officers said when they arrived, a 28-year-old woman was suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and is currently in stable, but critical condition, officials said.

Police are now investigating the incident and said they believe that three people were involved in an altercation prior to the shooting.

Information regarding the arrest of a suspect has not been released.
