I worked in Primark – there’s only one way customers can get a discount on items and it’s not easy
A FORMER Primark worker has lifted the lid on the “only way” shoppers can get discounts at the fast fashion store.
The woman started working for the budget clothes giant in 2017, and spent many years learning the ins and outs of the business.
She often shares some of the useful tricks she learnt on her TikTok channel.
In one video, the TikToker shared one way that you can get discounts in the store.
However, she warned that it is “not easy”.
The former sales assistant said: “A lot of people ask how to get a discount at Primark – but it’s not that easy because the clothes are so cheap already.
“And, when I worked there, staff only got 10% [discount] at a certain time in their own store.”
She then explained that the only way to get a discount on items, is to look for something faulty.
“If a t-shirt has a little tear in it, or there’s a stain on it, or there’s a chip in a piece of homeware – that’s the only way you’re going to get a discount”, she said.
She said that if you find an item that is faulty, you should be able to go up to a member of staff and ask them for a discount.
“That’s pretty much the only way you can get a discount at Primark”, she said.
She added, that there are also some good in store sales that are definitely worth looking out for.
She said that the Black Friday, New Years and end of season sales are particularly good.
Additionally, the former Primark worker said that it is worth asking staff members which items will be on sale in the coming weeks.
The video, has likely left many people impressed, as it has racked up over 96,000 views on the video sharing platform.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section, to share their thoughts on her tips.

- They “sell a lot of items” – Thanks to that, they are able to make savings by buying in bulk for their 191 UK stores
- They “do very little advertising”
- While their clothes offer the “latest trends”, they “don’t use expensive hangers, tags or labels”.
- And lastly, they try to be “as efficient as possible when transporting products from factories to stores”. This includes things like asking “suppliers to pack our t-shirts so they are ready to go straight on shelf”.
