Luke Littler will SKIP Players Championship and now faces battle to maintain incredible record
LUKE LITTLER will skip this week’s Players Championship rounds despite wanting to keep up his remarkable winning record.
The teen sensation is not competing in the latest ProTour events in Milton Keynes after returning from the World Series Down Under.
Littler, 17, now has a big task to keep up his amazing run of winning a title every month of 2024.
On this week’s ProTour, he laughed: “You know I’m skipping them.”
Prior to the New Zealand Masters at the weekend, when he went out in the semis to eventual winner Luke Humphries, he admitted he knew about his title record.
He said: “I’d love to win over here and get another title. Tick one off for August if not there’s plenty of chances.
“I saw that stat going into the ProTour last month and I checked it was the last day so win this one and then I can go home.
“I did win it and I am aware that I’ve picked up a title every month.
“I’d like to pick up another major this year, no matter what it is.”
Littler finished his debut season in the World Series as the top ranked player.
He will go into the finals in Amsterdam next month as the No1 seed.
Littler, 17, lost to Gerwyn Price in the final of the Aussie Masters and then to Luke Humphries in the semis in New Zealand on Saturday.
But over the series, he has reached four finals in total, winning in Bahrain and Poland and also went all the way in Den Bosch.
In seven World Series tournaments, Littler managed to total a whopping 50 points for the World Series Order of Merit.
