Trump: Anti-Israel protesters at DNC will convince Democrats to embrace 'communism'

Former President Donald Trump repeated his oft-heard rant against Vice President Kamala Harris' "socialist" policies Monday morning — but he added a further exaggerated claim.

Trump had his mind on the commencement of the Democratic National Convention as he took to Truth Social to slam pro-Palestinian protesters rallying in Chicago and urging an arms embargo on Israel.

Trump unleashed an attack on the protesters and on the Democrat's presidential candidate, whom he accused of having nefarious "Marxist" training.

But, among the usual character attacks he's repeatedly hurled at Harris, was a claim that contradicts reported fact about her relationship to the protesters gathering outside the convention.

"The Radical Left protesters in Chicago are going after the Democrat Party because the know they are weak and ready to break into a full blown party of Socialism or, if they really do their job, and with a little bit of luck, the Communist Party of the United States of America," Trump wrote. "They are already very close and, having a Marxist trained and believing President whose father is a Marxist professor, Comrade Kamala Harris, stranger things have happened!"

Trump's suggestion that the protesters' priorities are preparing a "communist" infiltration of the Democratic Party contradicts comments organizers made to ABC News about their concerns about a Harris election victory on Nov. 5.

"March on DNC, the group leading multiple organizations in the protests, said it has not been swayed by Vice President Kamala Harris' rise to the top of the Democratic ticket," ABC News reports.

"The group, which adamantly disagreed with President Joe Biden's handling of the U.S. response to the war against Hamas in Gaza — and the deaths of Palestinian civilians — sees Harris' and Biden's rhetoric as one and the same."

Hatem Abudayyeh, the national chair of March on DNC, told ABC News he is concerned that as violence continues in Gaza — where more than 40,000 people have died — Harris will maintain Biden's support for Israel, according to the report.

"There's no reason to believe that any policies would change under her leadership of the ticket," Abudayyeh said.

For her part, Harris has echoed Biden's support for Israel's right to defend itself after Hamas' deadly attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023 claimed 1,200 lives and 250 hostages.

Harris also slapped back at pro-Palestinian protesters, at a campaign rally in Detroit earlier this month, who interrupted her speech.

"If you want Donald Trump to win, say that," Harris replied. "Otherwise, I'm speaking."

But Harris has also said she raised their concerns about civilian deaths in Gaza with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a meeting last month.

"What has happened in Gaza over the past nine months is devastating — the images of dead children and desperate, hungry people fleeing for safety, sometimes displaced for the second, third, or fourth time," Harris said. "We cannot look away in the face of these tragedies. We cannot allow ourselves to become numb to the suffering. And I will not be silent."
