UAlbany preps for over 2,800 first-year students

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The University at Albany will welcome the class of 2028 on Monday as more than 2,800 first-year students move onto campus. The class includes 1,100 students from the Capital District and has an overall high school average of 90.3%.

UAlbany sorted through 32,320 applications seeking to be part of the class, and 1,000 of the accepted applications were from transfer students. Additionally, the new students from 23 states and 33 countries will participate in a week of welcoming festivities and the opening convocation on Friday, Aug. 23.

The opening convocation allows students and their families to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in higher education. Faculty and University leaders will speak, including President Havidán Rodríguez and Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Carol Kim.
