First Nation woman's death inquest yields 42 recommendations to improve remote health care
Ruthann Quequish's family advocated for a discretionary inquest into her death after the 31-year-old died in her home in Kingfisher Lake First Nation of complications related to diabetes. More than seven years later, a jury has delivered a verdict as well as dozens of recommendations aimed at improving health care in remote First Nations — so that future, similar deaths can be prevented.
