Shami’s Participation in Border-Gavaskar Trophy Uncertain: Jay Shah Weighs In

The National Cricket Academy (NCA) must provide a final fitness evaluation before India’s star pacer Mohammed Shami can play in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy later this year, according to BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

Shami is presently undergoing therapy at the NCA in Bengaluru after suffering an ankle injury during the ODI World Cup in November.

Since he started bowling again last month, Shami has made tremendous progress in his recuperation. His bowling workload has been gradually increased, and he has not experienced any soreness, which is encouraging for his possible comeback to competitive cricket.

“Shami playing the Australia series or not is a matter of his fitness, and a decision Will be taken after the NCA report,” Shah told ANI.

Shah also said that VVS Laxman will remain as the NCA’s head while providing updates on Shami’s health.
