Got mail about property taxes in Shawnee County? Here's what that means

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Some homeowners in Shawnee County are receiving notices about a proposed property tax increase this month.

27 News reached out to the Shawnee County clerk's office about this issue. Tax Administration Officer Lori Rea said the notices include estimates about upcoming property taxes.

However, these do not mean the county's value on local homeowners' property is changing. The notices are meant to inform taxpayers about proposed increases or decreases and let them know about upcoming hearings regarding the changes.

If you have any questions about appraisals, you can call 785-232-4461 or send an email to snappraiser@snco.us. You can find more information online by visiting the Shawnee County government website.
