How tiny symbol on your £2 makes it 26 TIMES more valuable – most people wouldn’t think to check

A RARE £2 coin has been put on sale for 26 times its original value as people are advised to check their loose change to see if they could be in luck.

The collectable coin first circulated in 2002 and has since increased in selling price due to a tiny symbol which could potentially be found in someone’s lucky purse.

A total of 4855,500 have been minted meaning there could still be coins on offer which collectors have not been able to get their hands on.

With many still in good condition the coins are worth far more than they originally were for those lucky enough to have kept hold of one.

One side of the coin depicts an athlete crossing a finishing line with a silhouette of the UK and a flag representing both parts of Ireland.

Whilst on the flip side, an image of Queen Elizabeth II can be found.

The collectable bimetallic coin seems to have exploded in value due to the unusual markings engraved into the design.

Originally released in 2002, the circulated coin was a unique design created specifically to commemorate the Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games.

Released under Elizabeth II’s reign, the coin is made up of base metal alloy.

Images of the two pound coin have been revealed by The Britannia Coin Company of Royal Wootton Bassett.

The site boasts the sale of the collectors item from fifty two pounds.

According to the site, The Royal Mint has a 1,100 year history of supplying all of the UK’s coinage.

It comes as a rare style of coin was revealed to now be worth thousands of pounds after originally being valued at two pounds.

The circulation was limited between 2007 and 2014 resulting in the precious coin now being sold upwards of £4000.
