The Democratic National Convention has transformed from a tepid embrace of Joe Biden to a giddy celebration of Kamala Harris, and Rep. Nancy Pelosi evidently has no regrets about the role she played in the change.

Reporters in Chicago pressed the former speaker on the significant role she played in orchestrating Biden's ouster and her response to party members upset with her actions. She said that she "just wanted to win this election."

"So if they're upset, I'm sorry for them," Pelosi said of disgruntled Democrats. "But the country is very happy."

Pelosi was sure to heap praise on Biden, despite her apparent satisfaction with how the situation played out. She called him "one of the greatest, most consequential presidents in our country's history" and his choice to step aside "very selfless."

Biden is reportedly still upset with how Pelosi and other top Democrats pushed him off the ticket. He will speak tonight and likely offer his robust support for Harris, despite the awkwardness. Then, he will fly to California for a vacation with his wife.
