Kate Middleton’s Secret Family Outing Shows How They’re All Doing Amid Her Recovery

While the Sussexes have been in the headlines every day for the past few weeks for their international tours, the Wales family has been extremely low-key, not only for their official royal break but also for Catherine, Princess of Wales, (better known as Kate Middleton), who is undergoing her preventative chemotherapy. Many wondered what the family was up to until this week, when they were spotted together at a festival.

Apparently, earlier this month, the Wales family were all seen at the Gone Wild Festival at Holkham Hall, Norfolk, which lasted from Aug 8 to Aug 12. Known as an amazing family-fun weekend, packed with live music, Nerf gun battles, axe throwing, experiments, and more. And it turns out, the family of five were also in attendance. Specifically, they were all seen doing a Nerf battle, with Kate happily running around and playing with her kids!

Georgina Barron, known as the Norfolk Nerf Parties boss, recently told Daily Mail, “Norfolk Nerf plays Nerf with the Royal family…….We was working at the Gone Wild festival at Holkham Hall when I was called to the production team’s office and told that a very special VIP family had requested to play Nerf wars. The Prince & Princess of Wales, along with their three children, arrived with friends and family. They asked if we could provide a high-intensity, non-stop game of Nerf fun, and of course, Norfolk Nerf did what we do best.”

“My sons Euan Barron, Jenson Barron, and Junior Barron had the ultimate honor of playing Nerf Wars with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and the adorable Prince Louis. We all ran around with Nerf guns and smoke bombs. The whole experience was unforgettable,” she added. “[They] requested no protocol as the family just wanted a wholesome family day like any other normal family. Of course, we respectfully did so. The Princess of Wales grabbed a Nerf gun, ran around, and played stuck in the mud with her children. Prince Louis was shouting with glee, ‘Come on, Nerf or nothing. Let’s do this!’ I’m still in awe of what a memorable experience we had.”

So, it seems the family had a wonderful time together, and got to continue their family vacation! Along with that, it seems as though Kate’s recovery may be going well if she was able to be as active as she was. Fingers crossed!

For those who don’t know, William and Kate have been together on and off since 2003. Since their nuptials, they have since welcomed three children named George, 11, Charlotte, 9, and Louis, 6.

In a previous podcast episode of Happy Mum, Happy Baby, hosted by Giovanna Fletcher, via Town and Country, Kate talked about how she incorporates her family traditions into her parenting.

“I had an amazing Granny who devoted a lot of time to us—playing with us, doing arts and crafts, and going to the greenhouse to do gardening, and cooking with us—and I try and incorporate a lot of the experiences that she gave us at the time into the experiences that I give my children now,” she said.
